Subtle contouring on the eye, perfected brows, delicately winged liner, a sheer veil of foundation and a neutral pink lip give this bride the perfect glow on her wedding day.

This bride wanted to look bronzed and perfected, with eyes that “pop“. No doubt those baby blues did most of the work, but some warm brown eye shadow and a dusting of bronzer definitely take this beauty to the next level.

Can you see how the white liner in this brides waterline brighten her eyes without looking like makeup? Subtle smokiness in the outer corner and a pop of sparkle over the tear duct accentuate the subtle almond shape of her eyes as well. The look is finished with medium coverage foundation in a natural finish (a great way to sneak in more coverage without looking too overdone), and a sheer pinky brown lipstick.

Makeup is all about balance. The trick is to ensure that every product you apply doesn’t pull the gaze in a direction you don’t want it to go. Too much definition on a brow, or excessive color on the lips can sometimes (not always) make it difficult to recognize a person’s innate beauty. A slick of light gold shadow on the lid, terracotta color in the crease, subtle brow definition, a hint of foundation and a subtle flush keep this beauty’s natural sparkle intact.

Let’s talk about foundation! Contrary to what the beauty companies would like you to think, there is no foundation on the market that will make skin texture look better. (Que the gasps and flying tomatoes) . Foundation’s job is to even out color, change the finish of the skin, and add as little texture as possible. If you are over the age of 25 or have large pores, it is in your best interest to use just enough foundation. Used sparingly and strategically foundation can create the photo perfect look most brides are after, too much however, will draw attention to pores and lines you didn’t even know you had.

This mom of 3 simply requested that I make her look well rested. Lucky for her, as a tired mom myself, I know all the tricks! In fact, aiming to look well rested and healthy, I believe, is one of the best approaches for makeup. This no-makeup makeup look is little more than strategically placed foundation, blush, a smudge of liner top and bottom (which doesn’t even go all the way across the lash line), mascara and perfected brows. The effect is impactful yet authentic.
